It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Good grief! It’s Halloween – and you know what that means! It’s time for the Great Pumpkin to rise up out of the pumpkin patch and fly through the air, bringing toys to all good children everywhere. This Peanuts classic has it all – Charlie Brown getting the short end of the stick (or rock in the trick-or-treat bag, as it were), Linus faithfully defending his belief in the Great Pumpkin, and Snoopy imagining himself as the famous World War I flying ace – all accompanied by the unforgettable jazzy music of Vince Guaraldi. The charm of this group of kids doesn’t lessen – even after 35 years. The Peanuts gang is still full of wit and wisdom. As Linus observes: “Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker,” and “There are three things you should never discuss with a friend: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin!” This last bit of wisdom is one of Schulz’s many nods to adult viewers. Oh yeah – your kids will love it, too! Remember when you could only see this once a year? Well, now you can share it with your family whenever you want. This Peanuts classic has been digitally remastered on video and is also available on DVD (which includes the bonus feature, You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown).
