Short Review:
Nine of Woody Guthrie’s playful children’s songs are sung with a folksy, down-home sense of fun by the legendary folksinger and his son, Arlo Guthrie.
Long Review:

Woody Guthrie, the legendary folksinger who has inspired countless artists from Bob Dylan to Billy Bragg, wrote joyful, playful children’s songs for his own kids that have been recorded on albums including Songs to Grow On for Mother and Child, Nursery Days, and Woody’s 20 Grow Big Songs. But here, old recordings of Woody’s vocals have been digitized and added to new tracks featuring his son Arlo and other musicians. And through the miracle of modern technology, Woody and Arlo are able to harmonize together on “This Land Is Your Land.” Woody sings the rollicking “Riding in My Car”, and the rhythmic chant “Grassey Grass Grass” accompanied by Native American percussion, and Arlo sings the other six of his father’s songs, including “Howdi Do,” Jig Along Home,” “Mail Myself to You,” and “So Long, It’s Been Good To Know Yuh.” Filled with folksy charm, and a down-home sense of fun, the nine joyful songs and two instrumentals on this album form the soundtrack to an animated film of Woody’s kid’s songs, entitled This Land Is Your Land. Woody’s rollicking children’s songs, which were sung and danced to by Woody’s own children, are sure to be enjoyed by your children, too.
