Short Review:
While poor duck does all the work, the lazy farmer gets his comeuppance in this lively tale of cooperation and justice.
Long Review:

Poor duck does all the work, while the lazy farmer lies in bed eating chocolates, occasionally bellowing, “How goes the work?”— to which the duck replies with a tired “Quack!” Watching with concern as their friend works himself into exhaustion, the other barnyard animals hold a meeting and moo and baa and cluck up a plan. Children will cheer as the animals chase the lazy farmer “down the lane…through the fields…over the hill” and away for good. A great family read aloud — Oxenbury’s watercolors perfectly capture the animals’ personalities, and the rhythmic story begs participation. Young listeners will love chiming in with the animal noises and responding to the farmer’s call. A hilarious tale of cooperation and justice.
